Recently, a traveller asked for my thoughts on the best “bang for your buck” when it comes to planning a first-ever, memorable family holiday with their now-teenage kids.
They were tossing up between Australia (think theme parks), Fiji, or a cruise.
In the end, they chose a cruise — and I couldn’t be more excited about that decision. Here’s why…
Cruising offers incredible value compared to many other popular family holiday destinations in our region. For a fraction of the cost, they’re getting meals, drinks, entertainment, accommodation, and the opportunity to explore new places — all rolled into one.
When we shared the onboard entertainment schedule and a list of activities available during the cruise, it became pretty clear: spend less, do more, and make lasting memories. After all, the goal is a holiday the whole family will look back on with joy for years to come.
Imagine this: rock climbing one day, watching a movie under the stars by the pool the next, dinner and a show at night, then waking up in an entirely new country the following morning.
Parents don’t have to stress about meal costs or keeping everyone entertained. Instead, they get to watch their kids light up with excitement day after day.
Some people worry about being on a ship with so many others — but what if that same ship offers so many diverse experiences that it doesn’t even feel crowded? Everyone’s off having their own adventures.
Whether it’s the Great Barrier Reef, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, or Fiji, cruising from Australia gives families an amazing, affordable way to enjoy a truly unforgettable holiday.
